BATTERIES START FIRES
Recycle batteries safely.
When it comes to disposing of electrical goods, you should always try to be aware of whether what you’re throwing away has a battery or not; batteries entering the incorrect waste streams cause fires that pose a risk.
Here’s a few helpful questions you can ask yourself before throwing something away to determine if it has a battery or not…
Does it have a power button, or does it switch ‘on’?
Is it portable or handheld?
Does it have a charging port?
Does it have a screen?
Does it have the wheelie bin cross logo?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, it probably contains a battery and needs to be disposed of safely!
Small household batteries
Typically smaller batteries with a power of 9 volts or less. The most common type is the AA used for household gadgets like remote controls, small toys, and wireless kitchen appliances.
